Adam and Eve and Something About a Livingroom, 2019
Steel, linoleum, carpet pad, stool, foam, plaster, pool noodle, fake banana, printed images of artist's skin
72 in x 96 in carpet pad, arrangement of objects variable
This installation re-imagines the story of Adam and Eve through domestic materials. Gender is fluid based on a crass joke: the figure is male or female depending on how you interpret the banana. The lamp references the knowledge in it’s tree-like form and illuminating quality, though it is not very bright or fecund. Overall there is a sense of lack: a lack of knowledge in the tree, a lack of individuality or expression of the person, and a lack of comfort within this space.
