Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Alana Ferguson earned a BFA in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland 4 years ago to pursue a Masters in Teaching at Maryland Institute College of Art. She has earned a Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center in 2013, and shown work in St. Louis, Brooklyn, and Baltimore. She currently works full time as an art teacher at a middle school in Baltimore. Her teaching experience has been shaped by relationships with students and her continued studio practice. Her artwork is an exploration of relationships in her life and the development of intimacy.
